Description
Along the peaceful shores of Lake Leelanau, our park suits both families and water adventurers. It’s our only park with a children’s play structure, basketball court and pier. Bingham Park offers unique recreational opportunities right around the corner.
History
Historically known as Core’s Landing after a pioneer of Leelanau county, William Core. William Core was born in Liverpool, England in 1842 and came to Bingham Township in 1862 with brief stints in Canada and Detroit. Bingham Park was part of the original homestead founded by William Core. Core left the homestead to his son’s after he moved to a property in Traverse City he purchased from the then owner and his business partner Orange B. Mead. Bingham Park was later acquired by the township for recreational use.
